MY AZAMAZING EVENING

“Longer Stays, More Overnights, Night Touring”, is the tag line used by Azamara Club Cruises. On a recent cruise from Seville to Barcelona aboard the “Quest” I was able to experience firsthand, just what  Destination Immersion®,  can add to a cruise vacation!

During our visit to Gibraltar which is known as the “gateway to the Mediterranean” we spent the day visiting and photographing  the famous Barbary Apes on “The Rock”, exploring the caves, duty-free shopping, marvelling at the traffic lights on the airport runway, (the main road from Spain runs right across the runway!) and sampling “English” fish and chips in the main square. Then back to our floating hotel for drinks and dinner before our special treat of the evening.

Azamara's AzAmazing Evenings are complimentary, private, bespoke events to allow guests to experience the best of  local culture, in a unique way.  So after dinner we boarded a comfortable bus for the journey up the winding roads to St Michael's Cave where we

A TRIP ON SEABOURN

Seabourn personifies luxury service from the relaxed and stress free boarding routine which includes a staff member to carry your hand luggage as they personally escort you to your cabin to  the room steward who brings champagne and an assortment of speciality soaps as they introduce themselves to the eye contact and personal greetings when passing crewmembers in the halls.  A small ship means that by day two a number of the crew know you by name and the next day your

AMA WATERWAYS

On AMA you unpack once and let someone else do the driving while you sit back and soak-up the scenery as you glide along famous waterways.  You can relax on the sundeck, camera always at the ready, catch up on the latest news from home with the free Wi-Fi in the lounge, hop on a bike and ride alongside the river on paved bike trails, or book a massage after a day of sightseeing.  At each stop several levels of walking tours or other excursions including culinary adventures or wine tasting, etc. are offered.  Back on board after a

were greeted by local volunteers decked out in various military costumes. The Barbary Apes were all gone for the night (I guess there are no hamburgers to steal at night). We were escorted into the huge limestone cave with giant Stalactites and Stalagmites, which was now transformed into a magical auditorium lit in blues and greens.  We were then treated to a fabulous concert performed by The Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band.  Surprisingly the acoustics were amazing. During the intermission, Champagne and dessert was served to everyone. I did not want the evening to end. This magical event will remain as one of my fondest travel memories.

Azamara Club Cruises is a little known gem of a cruise line and I cannot wait to sail again!
